Mulberry Street Farmer's Market Begins

Wednesday evenings just got a little more exciting in downtown Macon. The Mulberry Street Market opened today, with a dozen farmers from across middle Georgia selling their products.
"It was one of those things where, it was the right thing at the right time," Market Manager Alex Morrison explained. "We had a strong community support for the idea, alot of people said they wanted to have fresh, local produce mulberry handbags in the downtown area."
The farmer's market is a 'producer only' market. That means all the products sold are grown or made in middle Georgia.
Products like organic fruits and vegetables, grass fed beef and pork, and honey straight from the comb, lined the tables inside the boulevard on Mulberry Street.
Laura Rackley lives in Gray, but came to Macon's farmer's market, because she likes to support the local economy, and to have her family eat organic food.
"I have two boys, and I want them to grow up living a healthy lifestyle, not having all of the processed foods and things like Mulberry bags sale that we find in the grocery stores. I always like to get things like this as much as I can," Rackley explained.
